Have you ever been frustrated when those people don’t give you the time of day?
I felt this experience yesterday. I have a great contact with a funded project and all they need is a company to perform the service. I contact companies A,B, and C.
Company A- The receptionist cannot even pronounce a simple project term correctly and then proceeds to connect me with five different people, none of whom can do anything.
Company B- The voicemail of the gentleman I speak with is disconnected.
Company C- The assistant to the gentleman I want to speak with spoke awful english and I am sure butchered my message.
Why is it that companies spend so little on good receptionists? These are the gatekeepers to huge business opportunities. Employ highly competent people and you will be rewarded in the long term. If you like money, this seems like an easy decision.
