Extended Bio:

I once heard Richard Branson give an interview and he made a statement that resonated with me. “All business is simply responding to opportunity.” This phrase always sets off a chain reaction in me. It knows no bounds. This is the inspiration for the blog title.

My name is Josh Morgan. I helped to found Intense Debate and get it off the ground with a talented set of Co-Founders: Jon Fox and Isaac Keyet. ID was accepted into the inaugural TechStars class. I also author the Golf Improvement Blog, which I woefully neglect. I played golf for a little while in college and competed heavily when I was younger. GIB is my attempt to reconnect with a previous life.

After college, I enlisted in the Marine Corps and trained for nearly a year before being deployed to the Anbar Province of Iraq in 2005. I received a Purple Heart for wounds sustained from a roadside bomb and particpated in several combat operations as the “lead gunner” in a Mobile Assault Platoon. Operations I participated in were: Operation Matador, Operation New Market, Operation River Bridge, Operation Lightning, and Operation Quick Strike (Most are Wikipedia-able).

After coming home, working in Medical Sales for a year, and making ID as a hobby, ID was accepted into TechStars. Working with TechStars was a truly unique experience because of the caliber of people that surrounded us. Whether it be with other companies or our remarkable set of mentors: Brad Feld, David Cohen, Alex King, Eric Marcoullier, Todd Vernon, and so many more.

I left Intense Debate due to some challenging personal issues outside of the company that I have since dealt with. I did have the pleasure of helping to interview and select Tom Keller, Intense Debate’s CEO, to steer ID into the future. Tom, Isaac, Jon, and the rest of the gang are continuing to innovate at a frightening pace and ID continues to grow.

After leaving ID and taking a few months to see what was next, an old military friend of mine pinged me and asked if I would come over and see something. What I saw was an opportunity to change an industry and do something few if any other people in the world can do. So, we started a company. What do we do? We are the distribution arm for the only company in the world that can cut natural stones like granite, marble, and onyx to thicknesses of less than a millimeter. What does this mean? When compared to one square foot of three centimeter thick granite, a square foot of 2mm thick granite is 1/10th of the weight (22.2 lbs versus 2.2 lbs). Stone can now be installed quicker, with less people, and in more places with a host of new applications. More on this later…

The purpose of this blog is to share ideas about life, business, and even politics. Ideally, a great conversation will develop (to me, a blog is not a BLOG without conversation and comments).

From a technical level, this blog will use the wonderful Intense Debate comment system for commenting and spam control, Lijit for search, and Feedburner for Feed’ing (word?).
